Schmidt is honor to be presented with the Project Management Award in Sands Suppliers Excellence Awards 2016

On 7th Dec, 2016, Sands Suppliers Excellence Awards 2016, Schmidt is honor to be presented with the Project Management Award by Marina Bay Sands (MBS) for the successful deployment of the Warehouse Management System enabling the supply chain excellence to MBS. This is one of the seven awards given out to and we are honor that Schmidt stood out from the 400 suppliers and been the award winner based on our professionalism, dedication and flexibility in providing solution to the problems encounter in the project.

The award, a global initiative led by Marina Bay Sands’ corporate headquarters in Las Vegas, rewarded vendors in the categories of corporate culture and sustainability, innovation, service excellence, small-medium enterprise, quality management, cost management and project management.

Exceptional service providers and suppliers were nominated by Marina Bay Sands’ business unit and Team Members. The companies were then placed through two rounds of judging, first by parent company Las Vegas Sands, followed by the executive leadership team in Singapore. Nominees hold diverse portfolios ranging from construction, food and beverage, facilities, marketing and advertising, as well as retail and technology.

Schmidt Obtained Two Prizes in Vocollect’s Partner Awards

Schmidt Shenzhen Office conquered “Best Competitive Win 2011” in the Partner Awards organized by Vocollect. The Awards was held in Vocollect’s 2012 APAC Partner Conference in Chengdu this June. The prize was presented to recognize the success of Shenzhen team in integrating voice solution into a 600,000 sq ft distribution centre in South China of Renrenle, one of the largest supermarket chains in China. Our Sales Manager, Mr. Manter Huang, who specialized in voice and emerging application from Shenzhen Auto-ID department, also won a prize in recognition of his outstanding sales achievement in the past year.

Schmidt is Awarded as Excellent Adopted Corporate & Service Provider in China Logistics and Purchasing Informatization

The judges of the “Excellent Adopted Corporate & Service Provider in China Logistics and Purchasing Informatization 2012” finally announced the winners in the Awards Ceremony Dinner of China Logistics and Purchasing Information Initiative Conference cum Logistics Enterprise CIO Summit 2012, hosted by China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing on 14 June 2012. Schmidt’s solution in RFID pharmaceutical distribution and safety was credited as “Excellent Case Study in China Logistics and Purchasing Informatization” for its innovativeness, feasibility and impact on the logistics informatization advancement. The selection committee affirmed not only the prospect of industry applications brought by the project but also Schmidt’s dynamic corporate culture and its industry-leading strengths.

Schmidt Notched Up an Award in Electronic Commerce Logistics Conference

Schmidt has been awarded “Best Logistics Expertise and Equipment Service Provider Yearly” in Electronic Commerce Logistics Conference 2011-2012.

Schmidt Applications Triumphed in GS1 Hong Kong RFID Awards 2011

Schmidt won a total three honours in Hong Kong RFID Awards 2011 organized by GS1 Hong Kong. The RFID supply chain solution “End-to-End RFID Adoption in Supply Chains: Visibility, Innovations & Beyond”, bred by the project team comprising Schmidt and other four expert organizations in supply chain conquered the gold award and the bronze award under the category of “Most Innovative Use of EPC/RFID” and “Best EPC/RFID Implementation” respectively. Judges credited the solution’s contribution in optimizing and orchestrating logistics flows in the fashion and accessories supply chain and its capability to significantly reduce manpower for stock taking, improve production planning along supply chain and closely monitor the work-in-progress.

Project team members (Schmidt & Co., Center of Cyber Logistics, Li & Fung Institute of Supply Chain Management & Logistics, CUHK, Cluster Technology, LF Freight & SML Group) received the awards on stage.

Another honour came from “Winepedia”, an application co-developed by Schmidt and Nokia, won the Certificate of Merit. It combined RFID tags and near field communication (NFC) technologies to provide consumers convenient access to wine information via smartphones and wine retailers greater marketing intelligence through data collection and analysis.

The awards presentation ceremony was held on 11 November 2011 at JW Marriott Hotel in Hong Kong and Mr. Warwick So, General Manager of Schmidt represented the company to receive the awards.

Schmidt Conquests Awards in the Guangdong-Hong Kong RFID Awards 2011 and Guangdong RFID Awards 2011

A project developed by Schmidt which targets to establish the Internet of Things (IoT) in China’s tobacco supply chain via RFID tags, sensor devices, visual recognition, GPS and wireless network, has out-competed hundreds of submitted entries and won the award of “Best Use of RFID” and the silver award of “Best Use of RFID” in Guangdong-Hong Kong RFID Awards 2011 and Guangdong RFID Awards 2011 respectively. The project enables a fully visible and manageable supply chain in the tobacco industry through RFID technology to tackle problems in data collection, tracking, processing and analysis during tobacco production. This project benefits tobacco enterprise in optimizing logistics flows and increasing productivity to realize the modernization of logistics in agriculture. It also contributes in raising peasants’ income which is one of the country’s economic goals.

Schmidt Won Premier Logistics Solution in China

Schmidt Won Silver at Hong Kong RFID Awards

Schmidt won silver prize under the category of “Most Innovative EPD/ RFID Products” at Hong Kong RFID Awards 2010, organized by GS1 Hong Kong. Judges appraised the winning project “Smart Cellar” which allows RFID technology to be used in a wider context in wine trade at low cost. Smart Cellar is a RFID-enabled wine inventory management system co-developed by Schmidt and Siemens. The system features the purpose-designed high sensitivity passive tags and web-based application, which make remote and multi-site operations possible and easy. This year, the award presentation ceremony took place on two different occasions, Smart City + Forum and the GS1 Summit on 21 Oct in Shanghai and 5 November 2010 in Hong Kong respectively.

Schmidt Named Caring Company for the 2nd Straight Year

Schmidt is delighted to be named as Caring Company in the second straight year. Throughout the year, the company has become actively involved in various social caring activities such as donations, sponsorship, volunteering and mentoring. In the meantime, we also offered different interest classes such as language courses to our employees. We have fulfilled 3 criteria out of 6 namely, Caring for Employee, Giving and Employing the Vulnerable. The recognition was given out in the NGOs Partnership Day on 25 March at HKCEC.

Schmidt Electronics Group Granted ‘Excellence in ICM’ Award” by IPD

SEGL was honorably granted an award of “Excellence in ICM’ Award” by Intellectual Property Department, Hong Kong SAR Government in a move to recognize the company’s effort to join the Intellectual Capital Management (ICM) Consultancy Program in 2009 and to complete a written IC report. Apart from assuring the efforts of the participating companies, this ceremony was also held to unveil the next phrase of free consultation, which will set to commence in March this year.

The Awards Presentation Ceremony was held on 2nd March 2010 at HKCEC, Hong Kong and Mr. Daniel Lin, CFO of Schmidt Electronics Group received the certificate from Mr. Gregory So, the Under Secretary of Commerce and Economic Development. The ceremony was well attended by some 100 people from supporting organizations, reporters, bankers, NGOs and Government officials.

ICM aims to help organizations realize and re-discover their underlying intangible capital, also known as knowledge assets, which is critical to the company but rarely reflected on annual auditing or accounting statements. Examples include employee’s expertise, corporate culture, brand equity, customer relationships and information security, etc. IC reporting gives corporate a more systematic approach to identify and evaluate those knowledge assets on a regular basis.

Engaging the company and staff to serve the community is one of the important shared values of us. Schmidt’s products recognized by Hong Kong Awards for Industries

Schmidt & Co., (Hong Kong) Limited (SHKL) was honored as the award winner in 2008 Hong Kong Awards for Industries with its Smart Retail System under Innovation and Creativity category while G-BOX received Certificate of Merit in Machinery and Machine Tools Design category.

Judging panel praises: “The company is able to add value to conventional fashion shops by packaging a series of RFID technologies that set to reshape customers shopping patterns.” Hong Kong Awards for Industries is one of the most prestigious and well-received industry-wide awards in the territory in recognition of outstanding enterprises.

The Awards Presentation Ceremony held on the 21 January 2008 was well attended by over 800 delegates, among which were Mr. Klaus Festl, Managing Director and Mr. Warwick So, General Manager, who were representing the company to receive the prizes.

RFID products triumph in GS1’s Hong Kong RFID Awards

We are pleased to announce that Schmidt & Co., (Hong Kong) Limited won two prizes in Hong Kong RFID Awards organized by Hong Kong GS1. G-BOX and RF Regalia System won Bronze Award and Certificate of Merit, respectively under the “Most Innovative EPC/ RFID Products” category, by their innovative design and application. It further affirms the company’s capacity in the RFID innovation.

G-BOX is a compact sized high performance RFID reader that can read and write RFID tags while receiving, monitoring and processing data. Combining a middleware, a fanless central processor, antenna and USB/Ethernet ports, this invention greatly reduces deployment cost, enhances system’s performance and reliability in industrial environment, and is able to integrate to other RFID applications. Previously, G-BOX was awarded with a Gold prize in Hong Kong ICT Award 2007 for its excellence of low cost deployment.

We are also adopting RFID in laundry service. Timely graduate robes distribution and re-collection is always the big challenge for many schools. RF Regalia System greatly facilitates the entire regalia handling process from storeroom to service counter. The System is able to locate individual items in exceptional accuracy with far lesser resources, freeing frontline staff time to provide a better customer service.

“We are delighted to see our RFID products have won multiple prizes in this couple of years. It reveals that our products are gaining momentum and being increasingly recognized in the industry”, says Mr. Klaus Festl, Managing Director of the company. “With increased maturity of this technology, RFID ought to be applied in a wider context of applications in near future that will give us plenty of rooms to continuously innovate in this area”.

The Hong Kong RFID Awards was held in its first time to recognize pioneering enterprises, which have successfully brought EPC/RFID technologies into their business operations, and to encourage the adoption of EPC/RFID technology in Hong Kong and Pearl River Delta, China. The organizer, GS1 Hong Kong, is a not-for-profit organization, which promotes global standards, best practices and enabling technologies in the arena of global value and supply chain management.

Schmidt RFID G-BOX wins the Gold Award of Hong Kong ICT Awards 2007

Schmidt RFID G-Box has won the Gold Award of Hong Kong ICT Awards 2007, under the Best Ubiquitous Networking (Mobile Enterprise Solution) category. Schmidt’s G-Box has won judging panel’s hearts by providing a lower cost of deployment for companies that use RFID.
Schmidt’s G-Box is an intelligent, all-in-one device, comprising powerful RFID reader, fanless CPU, embedded middleware and application software, with 4 UHF Antenna ports that meets most of industrial requirements. It can read and write tags, process information between tags and server, while monitoring and controlling external sensors and signals. It supports running of complex RFID applications and Wi-Fi wireless connection. It is widely employed in fashion retail, asset tracking, work-in-progress and warehouse management.
The Hong Kong ICT Awards, with support by HKSAR Government, was established in 2006. It aims to recognize, promote and commend the excellent achievements to which Hong Kong ICT professionals and organizations contribute. The Awards also encourage local practitioners to develop innovative and creative ICT solutions, which will uplift the image of Hong Kong ICT sectors, both locally and internationally.

Schmidt’s G-BOX won the Gold Award of Hong Kong ICT Awards 2007, under the category of Best Ubiquitous Networking.

The small form factor and lower deployment cost won the judging panel’s compliments.

mi-tu wins “Demand Creation Excellence Award” from ECR Hong Kong Awards 2007

mi-tu, a well-known Italian upscale fashion retailer, won a “Demand Creation Excellence Award” from Efficient Consumer Response (ECR) Hong Kong Awards 2007, with its two prominent shops equipped with the “Smart Retail System” that allow customers to have a new and unique shopping experience.

Co-developed by Schmidt & Co., (Hong Kong) Limited and Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Smart Retail System consists of the Smart Dressing Mirror and Smart Fitting Room. When a customer enters the fitting room and approaches the mirror holding a tagged item, the system captures the item’s unique ID number and correlates it with other items in the shop that are then displayed on the nearby LCD display. The customer can watch a series of images and text on the screen that recommends different mix-and-match items for the item in hand. The system also improves customers’ loyalty by implementing a VIP system which collects individual customers’ purchase history and enables personalized marketing. In addition, the RFID tags are designed to help deter shoplifting.

The judging panel describes “the system demonstrates clear strategy and capability to generate demand by optimizing new product promotional campaigns, and providing customer value-added services for a new shopping experience”.

The Smart Retail System has been proven very successful to increase sales in stores by 30% and up to 80% of customers have purchased additional items recommended by the Smart Dressing Mirror.

ECR Hong Kong Awards 2007 is co-organized by GS1 Hong Kong and ECR Hong Kong in recognition to outstanding performance of local companies who have successfully implemented Supply Chain Management (SCM) /ECR principles and strategies. The Awards Presentation Ceremony was held in the GS1 Hong Kong SCM Excellence Conference 2007, Hong Kong on October 12, 2007, and was well attended with 500 local and international delegates.

Special Prize and Gold Medal – A Smart Dressing System for advising mix-and-match styles to customers (Geneva 18-22 April)

Schmidt RFID and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) had been awarded in the 35th International Exhibition of Inventions, New Techniques and Products held from 18 to 22 April in Geneva.

This innovative smart dressing system offers real-time mix-and-match style advices to customers when they view their selected fashion items in front of a dressing mirror or try them on inside a fitting room. It can also customizes the recommendations using specially developed programmes, including a virtual try-on simulator to fit the product image onto the body figure of the customer, an intelligent fashion mix-and-match engine for emulating fashion designers in mixing and matching fashion items, and an intelligent VIP engine for customizing mix-and-match suggestions to individual VIP based on his/her previous purchases. The system, enabled by Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, has strong potential to assist fashion retailers to improve their overall services and link up with the backend operations.

The system is currently used by a large fashion retailer and being phased in for installation at its retail outlets in different districts. It is envisaged to help fashion retailers boost their business volumes by improving sales and customer services.
